I made this piece for a painting class. The assignment was to make something either really bright or really dark (emotionally). Additionally, my professor requested that I make something figurative/realistic, since I had been making mostly abstracts. So, I decided to paint the scene from Full Metal Jacket where Private Pyle kills himself.
Making dark art is super cathartic for me. I had the biggest smile on my face while making this.
