I made this painting right before spring break of my freshman year. While I was living in the dorms, I didn’t have any of my paint supplies with me, and by this point in the semester, I was really missing painting. Almost everyone had already left for break, except for me and two close friends. We were trying to figure out ways to kill time before we left too, and one of my friends mentioned she had a few tubes of paint and a couple small canvas boards at her apartment. I was super excited about the prospect of painting, so we grabbed the supplies and back to the dorm. Once we got back, we realized we forgot to grab her brushes. But, instead of going back and getting them, we just decided to just finger-paint. During that last day/night before leaving, we sat on the dorm floor and had a marathon finger-painting session that must’ve lasted 10+ hours. In that time, I made this portrait and a couple other abstracts (no pics of those, sadly). I ended up really enjoying finger-painting and I’ve used the technique many more times since then.
