I made this painting during a single late-night painting session during my fall break. I think I was up till 4 or 5 AM, but I was able to get it done in one sitting. I find that paintings done in a single session often have a certain energy that can’t really be captured across multiple sessions. My multi-session paintings are usually more polished and “perfect”, but the single-session ones have a rawness that’s hard to replicate. With paintings like this, I get in a flow where hours can pass without me noticing, and I get totally locked-in until its finished – this often leads to me staying up much later than I intended.
