I made this painting for a class I was taking. The assignment was to paint a cartoon character. My teacher laid out a ton of different character photos at the front of the room, and we each had to pick one to paint. I chose a pretty basic one of a kid in his sweater (I’m not sure what show/comic it was from). I thought the reference image was super basic and boring, so I played around with it. I turned the kid into weird little pig guy, then added all the patterning and colors. Overall, I was happy with how I was able to transform the reference into something more interesting.
